Relegation-threatened VFL Bochum have stressed their desire to keep in-demand playmaker Zvjezdan Misimovic.

The contract of the 24-year-old Bosnian international ends in the summer and despite interest from Nurnberg and Hertha Berlin, the Ruhrvalley-club are still confident that the midfielder will sign a new deal at the Ruhr-Stadium.

"We know about the interest in him, but have not yet given up hope that he is going to stay with us," declared Bochum's director of sport Stefan Kuntz.

Misimovic started his career in Bayern Munich's youth department and sealed his Bundesliga breakthrough when joining Bochum in 2004.
