Hamburg are in the market for a new striker, according to director of sport Oliver Kreuzer.
After selling Son Heung-min to Bayer Leverkusen and Marcus Berg to Panathinaikos, the club are light up front and Kreuzer has confirmed his priority is to remedy that.
Jaques Zoua has arrived from Basel, joining fellow striker Arjoms Rudnevs in Thorsten Fink's squad next season, but Kreuzer admits a target man is still needed.
"We are looking for an additional striker," Kreuzer told Sky Sport.
"He has got to be a player who can play as a lone striker and hold the ball up. He has got to be able to draw his team-mates into the game and be strong in the air."
Apart from the lack of such a targetman, and a worrying 2-0 defeat to Wacker Innsbruck in a pre-season friendly match last week, Kreuzer says his club are in good shape for the upcoming season.
"We had the best training conditions and the lads all pulled their weight," he said.
"Rafael van der Vaart and the other players are all heading in the right direction."
