Michael Mancienne says he would like England manager Roy Hodgson to consider him for selection to the senior side.
The former Chelsea defender has been in impressive form for German club Hamburg since his move from Stamford Bridge in 2011.
Mancienne, who has represented England at every level up to the Under-21s, wants Hodgson to consider him for a senior cap.
And the 25-year-old argues he should not be ignored just because he is playing his football overseas.
He told the Daily Star: "You have to be playing Europa League or Champions League to really get recognition.
"That's a key thing and what Hamburg is aiming for this year. But if you are playing well they should still be watching you.
"I don't think you should drop off the radar if you play abroad."
Mancienne also insists he is happy playing in the Bundesliga and has no plans on returning to the Premier League.
Despite speculation linking the player with a move back to England, Mancienne says he is enjoying his time in Germany.
"I'm really settled," he said. "I haven't thought about moving or coming back to England. I'm really enjoying my time here."
