Rafael van der Vaart is urging Hamburg to hold on to their key players in the summer, despite the financial problems at the club.
The Bundesliga side are set to announce huge annual losses leading to speculation that they will have to sell some of their most valuable assets.
Arsenal and Tottenham have already been linked with a move for forward Son Heung-Min, and it is thought the club will be forced to listen to offers in the summer.
But Van der Vaart is hoping the side will not be dismantled during the transfer window.
"It would be great if we could add to the squad," the Dutch international said. "We need more experienced players with a winning mentality.
"But I know there is not much money to strengthen the team," he continued. "So it is important to make sure our best players stay."
