Hamburg defender Michael Mancienne has played down suggestions he will return to Wolverhampton Wanderers in England.

The 24-year-old joined the Bundesliga club last May and made 16 appearances for them in his debut campaign.

Mancienne advanced through the ranks at Chelsea where he earned praise for his cultured style of play.

However, he only made four senior outings for the Blues and the last three seasons prior to his switch to Hamburg were spent on-loan at Molineux.

Contract

There had been speculation that Mancienne could return to Wolves after struggling to make an impact in Germany, but the former England Under-21 insists he is at Hamburg for the long haul.

"It's the first time that I am becoming aware of this," Mancienne told the Hamburger Morgenpost newspaper of the speculation.

"I have a contract with Hamburger SV and I really want to stay on at Hamburger SV - definitely."
