Arsene Wenger has confirmed midfielder Aaron Ramsey will miss Arsenal's games with Liverpool and AC Milan.
The 21-year-old has started 21 league games for the Gunners this season but has been struggling with an ankle injury he picked up in the FA Cup defeat at Sunderland.
The injury kept the Wales skipper out of Wednesday's Gary Speed memorial match with Costa Rica.
Wenger said: "It is too early for him, he has no chance for the weekend. He will be out for Milan as well."
Wenger revealed that Johan Djourou could recover from a thigh injury in time to face Milan in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League last 16 tie, in which the Gunners trail 4-0.
The Arsenal boss did have positive news for fans on defender Andre Santos, who had ankle surgery in December.
He added: "He is going good, he is not far away as well - two weeks away from returning to the group. It is a bit ahead of time and he works with a fantastic attitude.
"He is unbelievably focused, motivated every day and he is a credit himself. It is a joy to see how hard he works and sets himself targets. In two weeks we will assess how well he is doing in training."
Wenger also used the opportunity to dismiss speculation over the fitness of talisman Robin van Persie, who was replaced at half time during the Netherlands' 3-2 win over England on Wednesday.
"It was planned by his manager (Netherlands coach Bert van Marwijk) because he knows we have a tough schedule," he said. "We are the only team in the world who plays Sunday, Wednesday, Saturday, Tuesday."
