Hamburg could announce a deal to sign Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Rene Adler before the end of the week.

Goalkeeper reportedly has medical ahead of summer move

Hamburg could announce a deal to sign Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Rene Adler before the end of the week. The shot-stopper is out of contract in the summer and Leverkusen have no plans to offer him a new deal after a knee operation which means he has not played this season. Adler is fit again after his surgery, but he does not feature in Leverkusen's plans and has reportedly had a medical with Hamburg ahead of a potential move at the end of the campaign. Hamburg's general manager, Frank Arnesen, has not denied the stories and has indicated the signing could be announced in the near future. Arnesen told Hamburger Morgenpost on the deal with Rene Adler: "I am in a positive mood. "We may have a decision on this soon. However, it could take some more days." Adler's move is in order to cover the impending departure of Hamburg's first-choice goalkeeper, Jaroslav Drobny, who is reportedly set to join Bayern Munich as back-up to Manuel Neuer.
