Guerrero gives Hamburg hope

Hamburg pulled further away from trouble with a 1-0 win at Borussia Monchengladbach.

Hamburg pulled further away from trouble in the Bundesliga as a last-gasp goal from Paolo Guerrero saw them beat Borussia Monchengladbach 1-0.

Under Huub Stevens' guidance, Hamburg have overcome their struggles in the early part of the season and Friday night's win gives them a five-point cushion over the relegation zone.

However, they left it late at Borussia-Park as Peruvian striker Guerrero was only summoned from the bench with one minute remaining.

The former Bayern Munich man rewarded his coach's faith though as he struck the winning goal in injury time.

Hamburg can be dragged back into trouble if Eintracht Frankfurt, Arminia Bielefeld or Borussia Dortmund pick up points at the weekend, but a run of one defeat in nine games has given them real hope of retaining their top flight status.
