Former Middlesbrough defender Emanuel Pogatetz has left Hannover to join Bundesliga rivals Wolfsburg. The 29-year-old has signed a three-year deal with the lower Saxony side after the two clubs agreed a fee. "Emanuel Pogatetz is a robust player and a no-nonsense tackler," said Wolfsburg boss Felix Magath. "He has a lot of experience, especially in Europe, and he will strengthen our defence. "I am pleased to welcome him into our squad for next season." The Austria international's future at the club was in doubt after he was banned for three matches earlier this year for punching Nurnberg's Philipp Wollscheid in an off-the-ball incident.
