New Hannover signing Leon Andreasen has revealed that he had to leave Fulham in order to save his international career.
The 25-year-old made just nine league starts during his year-long stint at Craven Cottage after signing for £2million from Werder Bremen last January.
The Dane was not called up to represent his country the whole time he was in West London with his last international appearance coming in November 2007.
Andreasen, with eight caps in total and one goal, is determined to get back on the international scene following a conversation with Denmark manager Morten Olsen.
"Morten Olsen told me I would have to move on if I am not in Roy Hodgson's plans," he told
Kicker.

"This move will also have an effect on my Denmark career."
The former Fulham man has quickly settled back into life in Germany and he admits he owes a lot to Bremen manager Thomas Schaaf for how his career has panned out.
"Thomas Schaaf made me the player I am today, after I signed for Werder from Aarhus," he revealed.
"The spell on loan at Mainz was fantastic, then although we were relegated. Hannover 96 had chased me for a long period of time and I had excellent talks with (manager) Dieter Hecking.
"I have heard a lot of good things and thus far everything is like that. I am really keen on playing again, actually I am not match fit, I have not played so much lately."
