Stajner stays with 96ers

Hannover 96 have surprisingly decided to take unsettled Czech Republic international Jiri Stajner off the transfer list.

The 28-year-old looked on his way out of the club when placed on the transfer list, but he has now been given the chance to impress ahead of the winter transfer window.

"We took him off the transfer list and he will now stay with us until the winter," managing director Ilja Kaenzig told Kicker.

The former Slovan Liberec star has never really settled at Hannover despite a string of excellent games for the 96ers and had spent the last months on loan at Czech club Sparta Prague, but failed to win a permanent contract in his home country due to his wage demands.

He is tied to Ewald Lienen's side until 2006, but the board will reconsider his future in December when the Bundesliga takes a break.
