Hannover 96 goalkeeper Mark Ziegler has returned to Austria Vienna after the two clubs failed to agree a transfer fee.
The giant custodian spent last season on loan at the AWD Arena and both Hannover and Ziegler were keen to make the deal permanent.
The Reds were, however, not prepared to meet Vienna's é¼600,000 asking price and talks have broken down with Ziegler returning to the Austrian capital.
His departure comes just two days after reserve shot-stopper Gerhard Tremmel joined Hertha Berlin and so leaves Hannover with a goalkeeping problem.
Media reports claim that former Borussia Monchengladbach keeper Jorg Stiel or Robert Enke, who spent last season on loan to Tenerife from Barcelona, could be in the frame to take the number one spot at the Bundesliga outfit.
