Hertha Berlin's Brazilian Marcelinho has finally left the club and signed a three-year contract with Turkish outfit Trabzonspor.
The gifted playmaker, whose seven-year spell with the Old Lady had always been plagued by controversy, had fallen out with his old club after being late for training by nine days.
Neither side disclosed the transfer fee, but reports in the German media suggest that Trabzonspor had to pay around é¼2.5 million to land the 31-year-old midfielder.
''On sporting terms we owe him a lot, but unfortunately he also often caused plenty of problems off the pitch and it was the logical result that our ways would split,Ç¥ declared Hertha managing director Dieter Hoeness.
Meanwhile, Hertha have finally strengthened their striking department by handing Srdjan Lakic a contract until 2009.
The 22-year-old forward from NK Kamen Ingrad has impressed coach Falko Goetz during his two-week trial.
