Hertha Berlin youngster Sofian Chahed has been offered a contract extension at the Olympiastadion.

The 22-year-old, who came through the club's youth ranks, has impressed since breaking into Falko Gotz's side earlier in the season.

Hertha have now rewarded the defensive midfielder with a lucrative new three-year deal, which general manager Dieter Hoeness confirmed Chahed had already agreed to.

Chahed, who has yet to open his goalscoring account in Die Bundesliga, is set to put pen-to-paper in the near future.

"It's only a question of time before he signs," Hoeness insisted.
