Under-pressure Nurnberg boss Dieter Hecking has been given a vote of confidence by the club.

General manager Martin Bader has told the coach his job is safe despite a six-game winless run in the Bundesliga.

Nurnberg have picked up just eight points from the first nine matches to leave them in the relegation zone and they were also knocked out of the German Cup by lower league TSV Havelse.

But Bader has told Kicker: "I am clearly a fan of keeping facts in mind. I am able to recall things.

"Dieter Hecking is doing a fantastic job. He has been in the job for almost three years. It is that spell of time I am using to assess the situation."
