Nurnberg keeper finally signs extension offer

Nurnberg keeper Raphael Schafer has ended doubts surrounding his future by finally penning a new three-year deal with the club. The 32-year-old was considering retiring from the game but has been convinced otherwise and the deal could see him move into coaching. Schafer was stalling on signing the papers, which were reportedly agreed in principle last month, but the keeper will captain Nurnberg next season. Nurnberg general manager Martin Bader told Deutsche Presseagentur: "We have signed the contract with Raphael Schafer that we had agreed before. "We are happy to have Raphael Schafer at our club and we are delighted he is staying on."
