FC Nurnberg have rejected an offer from Bundesliga rivals Hamburg for striker Robert Vittek.
The Slovakian international striker scored an amazing 16 goals for the Bavarian outfit in the second half of last season, prompting speculation that he could leave the easyCredit Stadion for a bigger club.
Sporting director Martin Bader says Hamburg's reported é¼5 million (£3.5 million) bid is a non-starter.
"Hamburg can forget about sealing this deal. Robert has a contract until 2009 and will definitely be playing for us next seasons," he told Kicker.
Nurnberg coach Hans Meyer has already expressed his resolve to keep Vittek at the club, as he attempts to build on a highly successful second half of the season that saw the potential relegation strugglers finish eighth in the Bundesliga.
