Bayer Leverkusen have completed the signing of Croatian goalkeeper Dario Kresic at the end of his contract at Mainz.
The 30-year-old moves as a free agent having seen out a short-term deal at Mainz.
He only linked up with the Bundesliga side in January, with Lokomotiv Moscow prepared to let him move on.
Kresic will now be with new employers in 2014/15, with Leverkusen looking for him to fill back-up duties.
With veteran shot-stopper Andres Palop having announced his retirement, competition was required for Germany U21 international Bernd Leno.
Kresic told Leverkusen's official website: "Bayer Leverkusen is a fantastic club that has played a lot in European club competitions in recent years.
"It's a big challenge for me helping the club fulfil its ambition."
Leverkusen's general manager Rudi Voller added: "We have signed an experienced goalkeeper in Dario Kresic, one who will act as our back-up."
