New Tottenham boss Juande Ramos could be ready to raid his old club Sevilla as he begins his rebuilding plans at White Hart Lane.
Ramos quit as Sevilla coach on Friday and was named as Martin Jol's successor at Tottenham 24 hours later.
The 53-year-old is expected to be given funds to strengthen his new squad in the January transfer window, and Ramos is eyeing moves for Sevilla duo Daniel Alves and Fredi Kanoute.
Alves is regarded as one the best attacking defenders in Europe and was linked with moves to Chelsea and Real Madrid in the summer.
Kanoute left Spurs for Sevilla two years ago and the Mali international has been a massive success in Spain helping them to win the Uefa Cup in consecutive seasons.
Ramos is a big admirer of the duo and he would like to be reunited with the pair, even though he concedes Sevilla are unlikely to be willing to do business.
Sensational
"I'd like to sign Alves and Kanoute," Ramos is quoted as saying in the News of the World.
"These two players would be sensational for any club in the world but I'm not sure if Sevilla will accept it."
Sevilla goalkeeper Andres Palop is also rumoured to be a target for Ramos and the shot-stopper admits a move to Tottenham would be an attractive proposition.
"Tottenham is a very important club with a very impressive history," Palop told The People.
"You never know in football, as we can see with what has happened with Juande.
"Every season is a new start."
