Bayer Leverkusen's Stefan Kiessling will be out of action for six weeks after damaging his hip while on Under-21 duty.
The former Nurnberg striker lasted just five minutes of Germany's 3-2 away win over Northern Ireland before leaving the field in pain.
Scans revealed Kiessling had partly torn ligaments in his hip meaning a six-week spell on the sidelines recovering.
The news of Kiessling's loss comes as a big blow for Bayer as he had started all three of the club's Bundesliga matches to date.
The 22-year-old is now set to miss Bayer's entire September programme including away trips to Eintracht Frankfurt and lowly Hannover.
