Bayer Leverkusen have signed Swiss Under-21 international Pirmin Schwegler.
The highly-rated 19-year-old put pen-to-paper on a four-year deal at the BayArena on Monday following an impressive season for Young Boys Bern.
Bayer coach Michael Skibbe is keen to strengthen his squad after sealing a Uefa Cup berth and feels that Schwegler could play an important role over the next few years.
"He is a flexible midfielder and is extremely talented," he praised. "We can look forward to plenty of good things from him in the future, but he will also be able to help us next season."
Schwegler is the third new face at Bayer following the arrivals of Nurnberg striker Stefan Kiessling and MSV Duisburg defender Alexander Meyer.
