Meyer set for Bayer return

Aleaxander Meyer is to return to Bayer Leverkusen after two years at MSV Duisburg.

Defender Alexander Meyer is to return to Bayer Leverkusen after two years on loan at MSV Duisburg.

Bayer coach Michael Skibbe has been impressed by the 22-year-old's performances for the Zebras this season and has now decided to take up his option to recall the left back to the BayArena in the summer.

"We have been watching Alexander's positive development and the way he has broken through into the Bundesliga this year," Skibbe told Bayer's official website.

"He is a flexible and dynamic player whose presence in our squad will undoubtedly lead to more competition for places."

Meyer has been a regular in Duisburg's starting line-up under both Norbert Maier and Jurgen Kohler this season.
