Bayer Leverkusen will be without talented youngster Jan-Ingwer Callsen-Bracker for the next four to six weeks.

The 20-year-old defender was training with his team-mates when he complained of a heavy pain, which was later revealed to be a broken ankle.

Callsen-Bracker has already undergone surgery with Berlin-based specialist Professor Hertel, but will not be able to report back to training before the end of September.

The youngster was expected to win a regular place in boss Klaus Augenthaler's first team after making a fine impression in both Die Bundesliga and the UEFA Champions League last season.

However, Augenthaler will now be forced to reshuffle his pack just one game into the new season.
