BRAZILIAN World Cup winner Lucio is hoping to end his injury nightmare and help relegation-threatened Bayer Leverkusen secure three vital points in Saturday's home game against Hertha Berlin.

The tall defender has not featured in the past four months after he underwent ankle surgery, and without their Brazilian talisman last season's Bundesliga and Champions League runners-up dropped back to second from bottom in the German top-flight.

"I am not at 100 percent yet, but I am feeling better with each training session," declared Lucio, who might be fit to last at least 45 minutes.

Leverkusen coach Thomas Horster is keen to stabilise his shaky defence with Lucio's towering presence, but handed the decision about his comeback to the 24-year-old.

"Only Lucio himself will decide whether or not he'll start against Hertha," claimed Horster.
