BAYER LEVERKUSEN have been rocked by the news that Brazilian defender Lucio will be out for several weeks with a foot complaint.
The World Cup winner was substituted in Saturday's 3-2 defeat by Hamburg and must now undergo a foot operation.
Defensive problems continue to mount for coach Klaus Toppmoller with Lucio joining Diego Placente, Juan and Jens Nowotny on the sidelines.
Lucio was a pivotal figure last season as Bayer surged to the Champions League final but he has looked a far cry from that defensive pillar this term.
