Bayern Munich have sent defender Lucio home for the week to aid his terminally ill friend.
Bayern Munich have allowed defender Lucio to take a week's leave, in order to aid his terminally ill friend back in Brazil.
The decision comes just one week before Bayern meet Milan in the second round of the UEFA Champions League, although the Brazil international should be back well in time for the important encounter.
Bayern's general manager Uli Hoeness confirmed that the club had granted the tall defender's wish and Lucio will now spend the next few days in South America.
Although the club would not reveal the identity of Lucio's friend, they did confirm that he/she suffers from a deadly brain disease.
The former Bayer Leverkusen ace is set to return on Friday, one day ahead of Bayern's trip to in-form Hannover and well in time for the important match against the Rossoneri.
