Bayern Munich have agreed a contract extension with midfield star Sebastian Deisler.

The German international has agreed terms on a new deal keeping him in the Bavarian capital until June 2009.

"I'm really excited that things have worked out," the 25-year-old told Bayern's official website.

"I am really happy here in Munich and I don't think there is another club either at home or abroad offering equal sporting opportunities for the coming years."

Deisler joined Bayern from Hertha Berlin in 2002 and has now established himself as a first team regular under Felix Magath after overcoming a difficult period of injury and illness.

Meanwhile, Bayern general manager Uli Hoeness has indicated that Brazilian defender Lucio is next on his list for a new contract:

"We have spoken to him and he will probably sign a new contract during the winter break," Hoeness commented.
