Bayern Munich defender Philip Lahm looks set to return to first team action after a six-month injury lay off.

The German international left back has been out of action all season after damaging cruciate ligaments in his knee playing for Stuttgart last season, but a successful 45-minute comeback for Bayern's amateur team on Tuesday means that the 22-year-old could be back in Felix Magath's squad for the trip to Arminia Bielefeld this weekend.

"It was great being able to play again. I've been waiting six long months for this moment and it was a lot of fun," Lahm said.

"Of course I still need a bit of time to get used to everything again. I was a bit wary going into tackles, but I will soon get over that.

"I didn't have any problems at all with my knee."

The news will also come as a boost for German national coach Jurgen Klinsmann who has hinted that Lahm will be his first choice left back if he can prove his fitness and his form during the rest of the current season for Bayern.
