Bayern Munich coach Felix Magath can welcome back four important players for this Saturday's home clash with Freiburg.

Magath's squad has been depleted by injuries so far this season resulting in the Bavarian club's poorest Bundesliga start for 25 years.

The ex-Stuttgart boss can now, however, call upon the services of captain Oliver Kahn and midfield ace Michael Ballack as Bayern attempt to close the gap on current leaders Wolfsburg.

Both players missed Tuesday's narrow DFB Cup victory at third division Osnabruck due to illness, and they will be joined in the squad by fit-again defenders Tobias Rau and Sammy Kuffour.

Meanwhile Magath has confirmed that Peruvian striker Claudio Pizarro will start the match alongside Roy Makaay - Pizarro scored twice against Osnabruck on Tuesday after returning from injury himself.

"Those goals were extremely important for me. They have given both me personally and the team a confidence boost," Pizarro stated.

The former Bremen striker missed the start of the season with a skull fracture.
