Bayer Leverkusen bosses have admitted that they would love to take out-of-favour Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger on loan.

The 20-year-old Germany international has failed to play a role in coach Felix Magath's plans this season so far despite being picked to play for his country against Austria last week.

Speculation that he could be available for a loan move has been positively received at the BayArena with executive manager Heinz Holzhauser admitting that he would be interested in rescuing Schweinsteiger from Bayern's amateur team.

"If such a player became available then we'd be crazy not to talk to him," Holzhauser told Kicker.

Bayern general manager Uli Hoeness further stoked speculation about Schweinsteiger's immediate future by weakening earlier claims by the club that he would not be allowed to move.

"If another club contacted us, then I would first speak to Felix Magath and then think about it," said Hoeness.
