Bayern Munich youngster Christian Lell has signed his first professional contract with the Bundesliga champions and is hopeful he can cement his place in the club's first-team.
The 19-year-old defender, who recently made his league debut, put pen to paper on a three-and-a-half-year deal keeping him at the club until 2007.
"I want to seal my breakthrough here with this club," declared the Munich-born youngster, who faces tough competition from Willy Sagnol, Hasan Salihamidzic and Owen Hargreaves for his favoured right-back spot.
Lell's commitment to the club is a boost for Bayern, who were recently stunned by the news that rising star Bastian Schweinsteiger (pictured) is refusing to extend his contract.
The youngster has less than two years remaining on his existing deal, and is threatening to walk out on the club in the summer of 2005.
