Stuttgart defender Serdar Tasci says that he hopes to sign a new contract with the Bundesliga side and that talks between the two parties are currently on-going.
The 26-year-old is reported to be the top earner at the Mercedes Benz Arena and he has previously attracted interest from some of Europe's biggest clubs, with Barcelona and AC Milan both reported to have been chasing his signature last summer.
Tasci has 12 months remaining on his current contract with Stuttgart, and he is optimistic of an agreement being met in the near future.
"I have started to have contract talks with Vfb Stuttgart since the start of my summer holidays. This is a fact and we will clearly continue to discuss a new deal soon," he told German sports magazine, Kicker.
"I would like to sign a new deal at Vfb Stuttgart."
Stuttgart director Jochen Schneider also insisted that the club are keen on extending the services of the Germany international.
"We are in touch with Serdar Tasci and we are keen on signing a new contract with the skipper of our first team," he said to Kicker.
"For both parties, for Vfb Stuttgart as well as Serdar Tasci, everything needs to be fine with a new contract."
