Stuttgart striker Mario Gomez will be out of action until the end of April after sustaining a knee injury in the goalless draw with Wolfsburg on Saturday.
The Bundesliga's leading goalscorer had to be substituted at half-time following a heavy clash with Wolves defender Jonathan Santana.
Scans later revealed he had damaged knee ligaments and will need around six weeks to recover.
Gomez, who has led Stuttgart's surprise Bundesliga challenge with 13 goals so far this season, will not need to undergo an operation.
The news is a massive blow to both club and country as the youngster will also miss Germany's Euro 2008 qualifier against Czech Republic on 24th March.
