Reigning champions Bayern Munich missed the chance to go clear at the top of the table.
Reigning champions Bayern Munich missed the chance to take a clear lead at the top of the Bundesliga after drawing 0-0 with high-flying Nurnberg.
Both teams started the game with a 100 percent record, but few would have predicted a stalemate at the Allianz Arena, as the two sides moved level with Schalke at the top of the table after three games.
Bayer Leverkusen were also held to a 1-1 home draw with Wolfsburg on Saturday, as a second half own-goal prevented them from moving joint second.
Leverkusen took the lead through Brazilian defender Juan, but then saw Ahmed Madouni put through his own net on 71 minutes before Carsten Ramelow was dismissed late on.
Borussia Dotmund cast aside their stuttering early form to earn a 3-1 win at Stuttgart.
Ludovic Magnin's own goal (20) put the visitors on their way, and after Serdar Tasci equaled the scores, Florian Kringe and Alexander Frei ensured the victory.
In the Bundesliga's basement battle, promoted Alemannia Aachen beat Hannover 3-0 with a great performance at the AWD Arena.
Jan Schlaudraff (15), Sacha Dum (47) and Reiner Plasshenrich (72) grabbed the goals that left the hosts still without a point after three games of the season.
Energie Cottbus stole a late win at Bochum when Vragel Da Silva scored with five minutes to go at the Ruhrstadion, whilst Carlos Kahe's strike on the hour gave Borussia Monchengladbach a 1-0 win at home to Arminia Bielefeld.
