Stuttgart midfielder Silvio Meissner has agreed a two-year contract extension at the Gottlieb-Daimler Stadion.

The 33-year-old, who has developed into one of the club's most influential players in recent seasons, put pen-to-paper on the new deal through to June 2008 on Monday.

"I am really enjoying life here at VfB and definitely wanted to stay," confirmed Meissner.

"I'm delighted that we have agreed the new contract and I'm looking forward to giving my all for the club in the next two years."

Stuttgart sport director Horst Heldt also expressed his delight at Meissner's deal, describing the player as "someone who identifies himself with the club like no other."
