Austrian international Martin Stranzl is very close to sealing a switch to Uefa Cup participants VFB Stuttgart, according to reports in the German press.
The talented defender is keen to move away from 1860 Munich after the Lions failed to preserve their Bundesliga status after a frustrating and disappointing campaign.
German daily Bild reported that he is set to sign a contract until 2007 at the Gottlieb Daimler stadium later this week.
His switch to Stuttgart would be no surprise as new coach Matthias Sammer is known as a long-term admirer of the tall youngster and had already tried to sign him while being in charge of Borussia Dortmund.
