BUNDESLIGA runners-up VfB Stuttgart have signed Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Jurica Vranjes.

The 23-year-old Croatian international signed a two-year deal at the Gottlieb-Daimler Stadion on Tuesday, after arriving on a Bosman free transfer.

"I am glad to be able to move to such a big club as Stuttgart," said Vranjes.

He also revealed that his fellow Croatian and Stuttgart veteran Zvonimir Soldo also played an important role in influencing his decision.

VfB coach Felix Magath expressed his delight at the signing as he attempts to strengthen his young squad for the coming season.

"Jurica Vranjes can the play midfield anchor role or in the centre of defence," said Magath.

"He is a player of international quality."
