Panadic pines for Goats

J-LEAGUE outfit Nagoya Grampus' Croatian defender Andre Panadic has confirmed he would love to return to Germany with Cologne.

The former Hamburg hard-man was linked with a move to The Goats in November 2001, before joining Austrian outfit Sturm Graz, but he told Express that the ambitious Bundesliga II leaders are still a club close to his heart.

"I have always wanted to play for Cologne and the idea of joining them is still very exciting," the 33-year-old admitted.

Meanwhile, Cologne's general manager Andreas Rettig is hoping to further strengthen the squad for what looks certain to be a return to Die Bundesliga.

Other defenders in the frame would appear to be Freiburg's Daniel Schumann and Stuttgart's Thomas Schneider, while Rettig also confirmed his interest in VfL Bochum's German Under-21 international midfielder Sebastian Schindzielorz.

A 21-game unbeaten run this season has left Cologne with a comfortable five-point advantage at the top of Bundesliga II.

They have already secured the signings of keeper Stefan Wessels (Bayern Munich) and striker Marius Ebbers (Duisburg) for the coming season.
