Aaron Hunt has revealed he will not sign a new deal with Werder Bremen until the futures of loan stars Nils Petersen and Kevin de Bruyne has been decided.

Hunt, 26, has opened talks over a contract renewal with the Bundesliga side, who he has played for since his professional debut in 2004.

However, with the team 12th in the league and unlikely to qualify for Europe this season, the former Germany international wants to wait before committing his future to the club.

He is particularly keen to see whether Petersen, on loan from Bayern Munich, and De Bruyne, on loan from Chelsea, remain at the Weserstadion.

"We already have had contract talks, but I am not in a hurry," Hunt told Kreiszeitung Syke. "I would like to consider the future of the club first.

"It is a fact I really like this club, but I definitely want to know how things go on with the club. I want to see what is about to happen with Nils Petersen and Kevin de Bruyne. Both are important first-team players for us.

"I would like to know first how the club will progress. This is what I have said to Thomas Eichin [Werder general manager]."

Hunt, who has a German father and English mother, has played 175 Bundesliga matches for Werder, scoring 35 goals. He has been capped by Germany twice.
