Czech defender cleared to make Cottagers switch

Zdenek Grygera has been released from his contract by Juventus, paving the way for him to make a move to Fulham. The Czech defender does not figure in Antonio Conte's long-term plans in Turin and has been allowed to depart for pastures new. It is expected that the 31-year-old will make his way to Craven Cottage, with Fulham known to be keen. Grygera revealed on Sunday that contact had been made by the Cottagers, while he also confirmed that he was interested in such a switch. He still had one year left to run on his contract at Juve, but the Serie A giants are prepared to write off that agreement.

Terminated

A statement from Juventus read: "After four years, Zdenek Grygera's four-season spell at Juventus comes to an end. "The Czech player has today consensually terminated his contract with the club." Juve also confirmed that Holland international Eljero Elia is undergoing a medical in Turin. The 24-year-old winger is set to join from Hamburg.
