Second-division hot-shot signs three-year contract at German giants

Bayern Munich have signed 2. Bundesliga top-scorer Nils Petersen from Energie Cottbus for an estimated fee of €3million (£2.6m). Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, a Bayern Munich executive, revealed earlier in the week that a deal was close for the 22-year-old. And Petersen has now signed a three-year contract at the Allianz Arena, having impressed with 25 goals in 33 league games for Energie. Bayern are now expected to focus their efforts on convincing Miroslav Klose to sign a new contract, while Schalke goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and Manchester City defender Jerome Boateng are transfer targets. If he stays, Klose would be in direct competition with Petersen for a place in Bayern's team, as would the Bundesliga's top-scorer, Mario Gomez, and Ivica Olic.
