Werder ace wants to play for Germany

Werder Bremen forward Aaron Hunt has dismissed suggestions he could represent England. Hunt, who was born in Germany, has a German father and English mother and could play for either country. The 23-year-old has yet to make his senior debut for Germany and, according to reports in both countries, England Under 21 coach Stuart Pearce has been keeping tabs on his progress. However, Hunt admits Germany is his home and after spending time as a youngster debating the issue, he decided a while ago to represent his homeland.

Learned

"I grew up in Germany and learned to play football here," he said. "I would of course be flattered by any interest from England, but I have not heard anything about it and it wouldn't even be an issue for me. "I only want to play for Germany and am not going to be tempted (to change my mind) either." He added in BILD: "When I was 16 and 17 I spent a lot of time thinking about this. But then I decided fully in favour of Germany."
