Werder Bremen midfielder Tim Borowski will be sidelined for several weeks with a knee injury.
The 26-year-old German international star has been diagnosed as having torn ligaments and a capsule in his left knee following an MRI scan on Monday.
Ç£It will definitely take a few weeks, but I haven't given up hope of getting back into the team when the league season moves into its final phase,Ç¥ Borowski commented.
The news is a bad blow for both club and country as Borowski now looks unlikely to be available for Germany's crucial Euro 2008 qualifier in Czech Republic on 24th March.
Meanwhile, Bremen's star striker Miroslav Klose has been diagnosed as having a bacterial infection after undergoing blood tests on Monday.
The World Cup Golden Boot winner will be treated with antibiotics and it is as yet unclear whether he will be available to face Bochum in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
