Championship hopefuls Werder Bremen staged a dramatic comeback to beat Hannover 4-2.

Bremen got off to a flying start with summer signing from Porto Diego finding the net.

Jiri Stajner levelled matters for Hannover on 43, but Tim Borowski missed a golden to restore the lead right on the stroke of half time when he failed to net from the penalty spot.

Vahid Hashemian gave Hannover the lead on 66 minutes, but Hugo Almeida hit back for Bremen 13 minutes later.

Germany's World Cup hero Miroslav Klose gave Bremen the lead on 85 minutes and substitute Daniel Jensen came off the bench to complete the turnaround in the final minute.

In the other game of the day Wolfsburg were held to a goalless draw at home to Hertha Berlin.
