Werder Bremen captain Frank Baumann is expecting fireworks from new signing Diego.
The Brazilian playmaker arrived at the Weserstadion from Porto earlier this summer and has been handed the job of coordinating Bremen's attacks following the departure of Johan Micoud to Bordeaux.
Baumann accepts that the loss of Micoud is a huge blow, but insisted that Diego's dribbling skills would pose opposing defences new problems.
"Micoud cannot be replaced and nobody expects Diego to do that," Baumann commented.
"Micoud was able to give our game some pace, playing the ball forward as quickly as possible, but it would appear that Diego is better at taking people on with the ball at his feet.
"He will give our game a different, extra dimension and the fact is that we will continue to play attacking, attractive football."
Bremen coach Thomas Schaaf echoed his skipper's sentiments, describing Diego as "a great technician who will give our game plenty of imagination."
