Borussia Dortmund have expressed their interest in Werder Bremen striker Nelson Valdez.
The 22 year-old Paraguayan striker is the target of the former European champions as they look to strengthen their strikeforce for the coming season.
"He is a very interesting player and we have already told Bremen that we have spoken to him," BVB sport director Michael Zorc told Bild.
Valdez has spent much of the season as a substitute for Thomas Schaaf's side, left out in favour of Germany international Miroslav Klose and Croatian Ivan Klasnic. He has admitted speaking to Dortmund.
The striker is, however, under contract at Bremen until June next year and they are unlikely to let the Paraguayan international leave without a fight:
"Valdez is not on the market. We want to extend his current contract," said the Bremen sport director Klaus Allofs.
