Germany international Miroslav Klose is set for a swift return to action, after his shoulder injury proved to be less serious than had initially been feared.

The forward damaged a shoulder during Werder Bremen's DFB Pokal defeat at St Pauli on Wednesday, with coach Thomas Schaaf suggesting Klose could be sidelined for some three months.

Such a scenario would have ruled Klose out of vital domestic, European and international fixtures, but tests have shown the damage is less worrying.

Klose visited a specialist on Thursday and was informed he will be sidelined for three weeks rather than three months.

"I'm pleased that he won't need an operation," Schaaf told reporters.

Klose should now be fit for Bremen's UEFA Champions League first leg clash at home to Juventus on February 22.
