A fine game at Weser Stadium saw Werder Bremen pick up a 3-2 victory over Borussia Dortmund.

Werder kept themselves level pegging with Bayern Munich, who also won, in a five goal thriller - as Johan Micoud grabbed an important winner.

Eby Smolarek opened the scoring for the visitors, but Miroslav Klose levelled before Ivan Klasnic put Werder ahead.

Smolarek's second tied up the scored, but Micoud grabbed an important winner for the hosts.

Bayern's victory over Hannover was sealed by a solitary Martin Dimechelis goal just nine minutes in, whilst Hamburg were held to a 1-1 draw by Eintracht Frankfurt.

Daniel van Buyten's 85th minute goal for Hamburg looked to have sealed victory, only for Cha Doo-ri to level in injury time.

Cologne moved into fourth with a 2-1 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach, with Lukas Podolski and Bjorn Schlike on target, with Oliver Neuville's penalty coming too late to be more than a consolation.

Stuttgart picked up a 2-1 win at Mainz. Jon Dahl Tamasson had opened the scoring only for Nikolce Noveski to level before Mario Gomez got the winner.

Markus Schroth gave Nurnberg a draw against Wolfsburg, cancelling out Diego Klimowicz's opener in a 1-1 draw.

Finally, Armenia Bielefeld were held to a 0-0 draw by Kaiserslautern.
