Bundesliga outfit VfB Stuttgart have confirmed that they are considering making a move for Werder Bremen defender Ludovic Magnin in the summer.

With Philipp Lahm to return to Bayern Munich after a two-year loan spell at the Gottlieb Daimler Stadion, Switzerland international left back Magnin has emerged as a possible replacement.

Magnin's contract expires in the summer and he is thought to be considering his options after losing his first-team place following Werder's 7-2 UEFA Champions League reverse to Lyon last month.

Stuttgart general manager Jochen Schneider has conceded that they could make an approach for Magnin in the close-season.

"He is one of the candidates we are looking at," revealed Schneider.
