Bayern Munich kept pace with Schalke as they beat Hansa Rostock 3-1 at home.

Bayern Munich overtook Schalke at the top of the table as they beat Hansa Rostock 3-1 at home.

The UEFA Champions League quarter finalists fell behind after just quarter of an hour, as Rostock took the initiative through Uwe Mohrle.

Bayern pegged one back through Brazilian stopper Lucio, and completed the win through second half strikes from Claudio Pizzaro and Michael Ballack

Werder Bremen also kept their title hopes alive with a 2-1 win away at FC Nurnberg.

Bremen closed the gap on the leaders to six points courtesy of an Ivan Klasnic brace as the Croatian striker (pictured) netted twice before Stefan Kiessling pulled one back with 20 minutes to go.

Borussia Dortmund edged an entertaining 3-2 game against Hamburg at the AOL-Arena.

Czech international Tomas Rosicky opened the visitors' account after ten minutes before Hamburg hit back with strikes from Collin Benjamin and Stefan Beinlich.

Dortmund then came back from a goal down to snatch the win thanks to Lars Ricken and Ewerthon.

VFL Bochum helped their relegation hopes with a morale boosting 5-1 hammering of Wolfsburg.

The home side raced to a five goal lead with a Goncalves Edu brace and further strikes from Dariusz Wosz, Vratislav Lokvenc and Peter Madsen.

However Wolfsburg snatched a consolation through Bulgarian winger Martin Petrov.
